PRE CLASS:
 Students present any work done last week for review and critique.

INSTRUCTION AND DEMONSTRATION:  Demonstrating the "L composition," Where a large vertical mass on one side of the picture is balanced by an expanse such as the sky on the other.

QUICK SKETCH CHALLENGE: We will draw an item in 10 minutes while trying to equally balance warm colors and cold colors.

CLASS PROJECTS:Choices include landscapes emphasis on the L composition form, A still life using subjects from the projects bag, butterflies that are copied from a calendar.

PRE CLASS: Students present any work done during last week for review.

INSTRUCTION AND DEMONSTRATION:  Demonstrating the “L Composition” where the a large vertical mass on one side of the picture is balanced by an expanse such as the sly on the other in a landscape.

WARM UPS:  Texture like tree bark using the cheek of the pencil. Wispy clouds. Heart with roundness like bubble.

QUICK SKETCH CHALLENGE: We will draw an item in 5 minutes

CLASS PROJECTS: Draw a spaceship, or space station, or time machine using the textures from the warm ups.  If time allows then draw a fantasy creature using the textures.

LONG TERM PROJECT: on this page write “I said.” You stole my ______ (Name of your heirloom). I want it back.” Draw a picture of your avatar facing the enemy.

Next page write. The enemy said “You have to take it from me.” So we fought.” Draw a picture of your avatar and the enemy fighting.

Next page write. “I was about to beat him but he got away.” Draw your enemy running away from your avatar.

PRE CLASS: Students present any work done the week before for review.

INSTRUCTION AND DEMONSTRATION:  Demonstrating the “Steel Yard composition form" where a large mass dominates one half of the picture balanced by a smaller mass on the opposite side closer to the edge.

WARM UPS: lighting bolts, waves, shading in boxes, 

QUICK SKETCH CHALLENGE: We will draw an item in 5 minutes

CLASS PROJECTS: Landscape using the steelyard concept demonstrated. Portrait, drawing still life subjects from items in projects bag.  

LONG TERM PROJECT: On this page write "I was about to be killed."  Show your avatar in deadly danger from the monster. 

Next page write “(the name of your enemy) attacked fiercely.”,  Draw a picture of your enemy attacking the monster while your avatar is helpless.

Next page write “We both fought together and defeated the the ___________.” (name of the monster).  Draw your avatar and your enemy fighting side by side giving the monster the last death dealing blow.

QUICK SKETCH CHALLENGE: We will draw an item in 10 minutes using as many colors from our pastel sets that we possibly can.

CLASS PROJECTS: Main emphasis on portraits today, Choices include Landscape using the point of Steel Yard Composition form. Draw a still life using subjects from the projects bag.

QUICK SKETCH CHALLENGE: We will draw an item in 10 minutes using only 2 colors from our pastel sets.

CLASS PROJECTS: Choices include Landscape using the point of interest /golden mean concept demonstrated. Portrait from pictures.  Draw a still life using subjects from the projects bag.

Next page write “We both had to fight the ___________.” (name of the monster).  Draw your avatar and your enemy fighting side by side against the monster.
